As India prepares to face England in the third Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has said the team is growing more confident with every match, riding high on momentum from their emphatic 336-run win at Edgbaston.

Reflecting on India’s historic 2021 victory at Lord’s, Pant called the venue “iconic” and expressed gratitude for a new opportunity in a new role.

“Everyone knows it’s an iconic ground. Everyone coming together to win that Test match was amazing to see. God has been kind that I got a chance again, with a different team and in a different role,” Pant said in a video posted by the BCCI.

India and England are currently tied 1-1 in the series. Pant noted that the team is gaining confidence after each match and is aiming to take a 2-1 lead after Lord’s.

“See the way the team is playing, everyone is getting confident with every match. We’re taking a lot of confidence from the last match, and hopefully, we can make it 2-1 now,” he added.

KL Rahul, another senior batter in the squad, shared his own emotional connection with Lord’s.

“It’s a happy feeling to come here, enter the dressing room, and see your name on the honours board. Hopefully, I can put in another great performance and help India win,” said Rahul, who has scored 152 runs in two Tests at Lord’s, including a century.

India’s dominant performance at Edgbaston featured Shubman Gill’s twin centuries (269 and 161), a six-wicket haul by Mohammed Siraj, and an impressive 10-wicket match haul by Akash Deep, even in the absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.

India and England have faced off 19 times at Lord’s, with England winning 12 and India securing 3 victories. The upcoming match marks a crucial turning point in the tightly contested series.
